Department of Defense Notice for Advanced Drop-In Biofuels Production Project

As part of their initiative to develop new sources of renewable fuels the Department of Defense has recently made public a notification that they will soon be soliciting for an advanced biofuel production project, something that may be of interest to ABO members directly involved in production.

The DoD deadline may come up quickly, so interested stakeholders should make sure they have a good project ready to go.

According to a DoD Special Notice, the Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III Program anticipates the issuance of a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) which would request proposals from domestic sources to execute an Advanced Drop-In Biofuel Production Project.

This BAA may be published as soon as June 2012, and may be open for no more than 60 days for proposal submissions. That means interested parties may want to start preparing now.

Some of the proposals that may qualify include constructing new facilities or modifications to an existing facility where it is economically and technically advantageous to do so.

More information, including the full Special Notice, can be found at the Federal Business Opportunities website.
