Director Recruitment 2015

The leadership of the Algae Biomass Organization is critical is assisting the industry to move forward towards commercialization.

There are seven positions up for election for 2015.  This term will be from May 2015 through May 2017.  Positions up for re-election are:

  • Jacques Beaudry-Losique, Algenol Biofuels
  • Time Burns, BioProcess Algae
  • David Hazelbeck, Global Algae Innovations
  • Margaret McCormick, Matrix Genetics
  • Jose Olivares, Los Alamos National Laboratory
  • Todd Taylor, Fredrikson & Byron, P.A.
  • Tim Zenk, Sapphire Energy

Per the ABO by-laws, the goal of recruitment is to identify 1.5x candidates for the 7 open positions – or 10 candidates as a minimum.

The Director Recruitment committee consists of:

  • Michael Lakeman, The Boeing Company
  • Joel Murdock, Fedex Express
  • Emilie Slaby, The Scoular company

The Director Recruitment process will occur on the following schedule:

  • Solicitations of candidates – mid-December 2014
    • Candidates will be requested to provide:
      • A current resume or CV
      • Statement of interest on why they should be considered for the Board
      • A recent portrait photograph (jpg or eps)
      • Slate of candidates identified for the ABO Board – February 2015
      • Candidate interviews – February– March 2015
      • Three week election period – March – April 2015
      • Terms start May 2015

Directors are expected to:

  • Continuously be a member in good standing
  • Actively participate on one ABO committee
  • Attend 70% of all Board calls; Board calls at the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, 11 A.M. CT.
  • Attend three in-person meetings: June, September/October, January; expenses to be covered on own
  • Active membership recruitment and retention
